A setting of William Wordsworth's "Lines Written in Early Spring". Wordsworth's poem was written during the French Revolution and, alongside the pastoral imagery inspired by the coming of spring, he dwells sadly on "what man has made of man". The music reflects this dual sensibility with a bittersweet melody and deceptively simple harmonies.
